What people ask at the office door, and at the gate at ten to seven.
What time should I come?
Seven for salad, fish and the best of the vegetables. Eight for bread. Noon if you want a bargain on whatever is left, because nobody wants to carry it home.
Why only Saturdays?
Because our traders are farming the rest of the week. One market a week is what twenty-six producers can actually supply without buying stock in.
How do you know traders grew it?
We visit every farm, kitchen or boat before a trader joins, and again if we hear something. Two traders have been asked to leave for reselling since we opened.
Do the traders take cards?
About half take transfers and all take cash. Bring small notes; there is an ATM in the plaza next door.
Is there anything for children?
The honey stall gives tastings, the coconut man does jelly coconuts, and there are chairs and shade at the back. Dogs on leads are fine except in the cooked-food row.
What happens if it rains?
The market runs. Two thirds of the stalls are under the roof. We only cancel for a storm warning and we post it here and on Instagram by six in the morning.
